We recently bought our first house and have been advised by several resources to replace some of our windows. We’ve had a lot of different suggestions on the types of windows to get. Some say we should go for vinyl and others have said fiberglass is more energy efficient. What are the advantages and disadvantages of different materials?
Hi Thomas,
The most common materials used in window replacement include vinyl, wood, aluminum, and fiberglass. Each material has its own advantages and disadvantages. For example, vinyl windows are affordable, low-maintenance, and energy efficient, while wood windows offer a classic look and feel and can be painted or stained to match the home’s decor. Aluminum windows are strong, lightweight, and require very little maintenance, but they are not as energy efficient as other materials. Fiberglass windows are durable, energy efficient, and can be painted to match the home’s exterior.
